Tournament Hosts

Rotary District 7570, the Rotary Club of Christiansburg-Blacksburg and The Inn at Virginia Tech

District 7570's 2018-2019 Governor, George Karnes, extends an invitation to you to join the fun at the United States-Canada Golfing Fellowship of Rotarian's 2018 National Championship in Blacksburg, Virginia.  The host hotel, The Inn at Virginia Tech and the two selected courses will provide the perfect venues for the event.  The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center belongs to the University and is located on the campus.  Opened in 2005, The Inn provides first-class accommodations for visitors to Blacksburg and the University.  The Skelton Conference Center is named for William Skelton, former Virginia Tech Dean and Rotary International President for 1983-1984.

TOURNAMENT COSTS

Room Rates at The Inn at Virginia Tech will be $159 Sgl/$169 Dbl + Tax - Including Full Buffet Breakfast

Full Tournament Registration is $600.  

This includes Three Rounds of Golf with Lunch, Opening Reception, Rotary Dinner, Tuesday Reception/Dinner, Awards Banquet, Tournament Awards, Hospitality Room, Hospitality Refreshments, printing, postage, entertainment, welcome gifts, name tags and other miscellaneous expenses.  

Two-Day Golfer Registration is $505.  

Non-Golfer Registration is $225. 


Monday's Practice Round is optional and is $50 for USGFR competitors.

Blacksburg Country Club

The Blacksburg Country Club is a classic tree-lined golf course with forgiving fairways and greens.  There are seven different sets of tees to match any skill level. The  North Fork of the Roanoke River meanders through the course, coming into  play on several holes.  The course also features more than 60 sand bunkers and several water holes to challenge you.

Pete Dye River Course

Bordering two and one-half miles of the New River, this course displays many of the signature Pete Dye elements that define his iconic links-style creations.  The River Course has hosted NCAA Regional Championships and the Virginia State Amateur Championship.  Among other awards, it has been rated in the Top Ten of College Courses in the U.S. by Golfweek.

Optional Tours

Tuesday, Sept. 25

Tuesday will include a tour of historic Smithfield Plantation, (shown above) circa 1774.  Located adjacent to Virginia Tech, it was the original home of the Preston family, key figures in the history and government of the Virginia Commonwealth.  The Virginia Tech campus is located on property that belonged to the Preston family.  The group will tour the VT campus, the Hahn Horticulture Garden and the galleries of the Moss Arts Center, seen below.  The included lunch will be at Zeppoli's Italian Restaurant. 

Wednesday, Sept. 26

Wednesday will offer a tour to Roanoke, Virginia, known as the Star City, about 45 minutes from Blacksburg.  It will include a visit to the Taubman Museum of Art (above), which is a work of art in itself.  You will also visit Market Square and the Virginia Museum of Transportation.  Lunch will be in the classic Regency Room of the historic Hotel Roanoke, seen below.

Thursday, Sept. 27

Mabry Mill

Thursday's tour will include a visit to Floyd, Virginia, known for its quaint shops and eateries.  A ride on the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway provides unmatched views and beautiful scenery.  You will visit Mabry's Mill, the most photographed site on the Parkway.  Lunch will be at Chateau Morrisette, one of Virginia's largest producers of fine wines.
